Competitions

We have developed the following categories to encourage as many different choirs as possible to participate in the competitions which will be held on Saturday.

Church Music Competition

Two contrasting choral arrangements of own choice from any period (Plainchant to modern including gospel).

Light Entertainment Competition

Two contrasting pieces of own choice. Instrumental accompaniment is permitted but no pre-recorded accompaniment or amplified vocals allowed.  (e.g. Jazz, Gospel, Barbershop, Show Tunes)

Chamber Choirs Competition

Two contrasting choral arrangements of own choice, representing a historically balanced and coherent range of styles. Up to 30 voices.

Large Choirs Competition

Two contrasting choral arrangements of own choice, representing a historically balanced and coherent range of styles – for 25 voices or more.

Prizes for all competitions ::   1st Place - Trophy & €300  ::   2nd Place - €150
